The Round Lake Area Park District was established in 1974 and includes the villages of Round Lake, Round Lake Beach, Round Lake Heights, Round Lake Park and Hainesville, but also draws participants from throughout Lake County and beyond. The mission of the Park District is to promote healthy lifestyles through recreation programs, facilities and open spaces. The Park District has 74 park sites, including many playgrounds, basketball and tennis courts, skate parks, splash pads, a disc golf course, an outdoor challenge course and a sled hill. Facilities include Renwood Golf Course, a Community Center, a Sports Center and an Aquatics Center. The District also has a children's museum and a nature museum.
